Awards, Reviews and Recommendations
2009 Houston Chronicle
Nationally syndicated travel writer Melissa Ward Aguilar recommended
the Luna Blue for our “cozy and affordable” rooms,
our “beautifully landscaped cenote courtyard” and our “inviting bar”
which she says serves “flawless” margaritas.
2009 Playa del Carmen, Tulum & The Riviera Maya Guidebook, Second Edition
When travel writer Joshua Hinsdale first reviewed the Luna Blue Hotel for his guidebook on Playa del Carmen
he found: "There are shaded hammocks and a lagoon like sunken garden and waterfall,
and the whole place is surrounded by jungle and tropical flowers, giving it a lost
in time quality that's not always easy to find in a modern resort destination."
The book proved so popular that a second revised edition has been released with
the added feature of an article on Tony and Cheri and their life running one of the
most popular hotels in Playa del Carmen, aptly titled, “Living the Dream.”

USA TODAY.com
While traveling in the Yucatan to review a large all-inclusive resort, USA Today
travel writer Kitty Bean Yancey decided
to stay at a small local hotel after she left the expensive resort.
She seemed to like what she saw, as she reported in her column, HotelHotsheet:
"But you don't have to drop hundreds a day to stay on the Riviera Maya.
I spent a night in a basic but charming and sparkling-clean guesthouse right
in the heart of the action in Playa del Carmen. The Luna Blue Hotel & Garden cost me $72.80,
including tax. Bueno for the budget in these days of triple-digit hotel
rates in hot resort areas"
The Today Show on MSNBC.com
Peter Greenburg, Travel Editor for NBC's Today Show gets to see a lot of places all over the world.
The fact that he took time to single out our hotel in his blog about the Yucatan made us very proud:
"Playa Del Carmen, about 30 miles south, is an old fishing village transformed into a
deluxe Caribbean city with resorts, golf, international cuisine, shopping and beaches.
It has a diverse culture mixed with traditional Mexican and European flavors.
It also has a variety of busy shops, boutique hotels and all-inclusive resorts.
In Playa del Carmen, the Luna Blue Hotel and Garden is a five-minute walk from
the beach, and it offers use of their private beach club. Rates start at about $72 per night.
