2013 Tripadvisor Travelers' Choice Award Winner for "Best Bargain Hotel - Mexico"
Each year Tripadvisor, the world's largest online travel site, gives its prestigious "Travelers' Choice Awards." "Once again, TripAdvisor is thrilled to recognize the finest accommodations based on the feedback from those who really matter: their guests," said Barbara Messing, chief marketing officer for TripAdvisor. "It's the insights from millions of travelers that make these awards so special, as they help others discover the hotels travelers love most - whatever the budget, in all corners of the world." In 2013 the Luna Blue was honored as a Travelers' Choice Award Winner for Best Bargain Hotel - Mexico.
2009 Houston Chronicle
Nationally syndicated travel writer Melissa Ward Aguilar recommended
the Luna Blue for our “cozy and affordable” rooms,
our “beautifully landscaped cenote courtyard” and our “inviting bar”
which she says serves “flawless” margaritas.
2009 Playa del Carmen, Tulum & The Riviera Maya Guidebook, Second Edition
When travel writer Joshua Hinsdale first reviewed the Luna Blue Hotel for his guidebook on Playa del Carmen
he found: "There are shaded hammocks and a lagoon like sunken garden and waterfall,
and the whole place is surrounded by jungle and tropical flowers, giving it a lost
in time quality that's not always easy to find in a modern resort destination."
The book proved so popular that a second revised edition has been released with
the added feature of an article on Tony and Cheri and their life running one of the
most popular hotels in Playa del Carmen, aptly titled, “Living the Dream.”
2008 Outside Magazine Travel Award Winner
Outside Magazine has been one of America's top adventure-travel periodicals for over thirty years, dedicating itself to "covering the people, sports and activities, politics, art, literature, and hardware of the outdoors." In 2008 Outside named the Luna Blue Hotel and Garden as the best place to stay for a budget getaway to the beach naming us "The Best Beach for Cheap" hotel in the world.
2008 Tripadvisor's Inside Playa Del Carmen Guide

restaurant information, activity recommendations and hotel listings, Tripadvisor publishes
online Travel Guides which it says collects "the best insider tips from its 25 million

chosen The Luna Blue Hotel as a Best Budget Hotel
and a Hidden Gem Hotel for Playa Del Carmen. In 2009 and 2012 Luna Blue was distinguished as one of Tripadvisor's
Top Value hotels in Playa del Carmen.
2006 Tripadvisor Travelers' Choice Award Winner for "Best Bargain Hotel - Caribbean"
Each year Tripadvisor, the world's largest online travel site, gives its prestigious "Travelers' Choice Awards." Recipients are "singled out for their spectacular service and extraordinary value," said Michele Perry, Director of Communications for TripAdvisor. "Most hotel awards programs honor the most luxurious and opulent hotels, but because Travelers' Choice awards are determined by millions of real travelers from around the world, the winners tend to be outstanding properties that are within reach for the average traveler." In 2006 the Luna Blue was honored as a Travelers' Choice Award Winner for Best Bargain Hotel - Caribbean.
While traveling in the Yucatan to review a large all-inclusive resort, USA Today
travel writer Kitty Bean Yancey decided
to stay at a small local hotel after she left the expensive resort.
She seemed to like what she saw, as she reported in her column, HotelHotsheet:
"But you don't have to drop hundreds a day to stay on the Riviera Maya.
I spent a night in a basic but charming and sparkling-clean guesthouse right
in the heart of the action in Playa del Carmen. The Luna Blue Hotel & Garden cost me $72.80,
including tax. Bueno for the budget in these days of triple-digit hotel
rates in hot resort areas."
The Today Show on MSNBC.com
Peter Greenburg, Travel Editor for NBC's Today Show gets to see a lot of places all over the world.
The fact that he took time to single out our hotel in his blog about the Yucatan made us very proud:
"Playa Del Carmen, about 30 miles south, is an old fishing village transformed into a
deluxe Caribbean city with resorts, golf, international cuisine, shopping and beaches.
It has a diverse culture mixed with traditional Mexican and European flavors.
It also has a variety of busy shops, boutique hotels and all-inclusive resorts.
In Playa del Carmen, the Luna Blue Hotel and Garden is a five-minute walk from
the beach, and it offers use of their private beach club. Rates start at about $72 per night."
